Sewing

My wonderful parents got me a sewing machine for graduation! Such a great idea. I am so excited to use it. And I used some money from my grandma to get the needed accessories. I hope to become somewhat good and make some fun things!
For fun, I decided to try to turn some old pants into some shorts. It was quick and easy.
There are so many amazing fabrics, I can't wait!

Freshman Year till the End

My first day of Summer term 2008, I met my first college roommate. She was not so awesome. Bratty, stuck up, and messy. I was planning on just dealing with the situation and then I met a girl across the hall who was so awesome. To make a long story short, by the second day I struck a deal with my original roommate and had her switch rooms. So now Ali and I became roommates. We had a great summer and first semester at BYU. Throughout the years we have stayed friends in between her going to BYU-Hawaii and then back to Provo, us never living together again, and getting married. We still managed to stay connected and it was always great to run into her. Fast forward to graduation day! We had chosen the same major (although weirdly never had a class together) and were able to sit next to each other and walk together! How awesome is that!!! I will always be grateful for her switching dorm rooms and for the friendship we have!
WE DID IT!!!

Graduation

Today was a great day! I graduated from BYU! Man, I can't believe my college days are over. It has been my life for all these years. No more lectures, note taking, studying, or taking exams. I have always wanted to come to BYU and now to have a degree is quite the accomplishment. Although I am very excited to be done and moving on with life there are always things I will miss about BYU and being a college student. The beautiful campus, the sports, the friends, the roommates, graham canyon ice cream (although as long as we live here we will continue to visit the creamery), the knowledgeable professors, and the opportunity to continually learn about human development and family life. Even though we all know my major will not lead to a successful money-making career, I know it has been the best for me and I will be able to apply it in my life as a future mother. Sometimes I never wanted lectures to end. I don't think I ever had a class that never mentioned President Lee's quote that has since become so well known.

"The most important of the Lord's work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home."

I believe that statement with all I know. And I definitely could not have finished without the support of my parents, family, and Matt. It has been a great ride and memories I will have forever.
Thanks for all my family who came to support!

Happy Easter

Yesterday we had the first annual Asay Easter Egg Hunt. The kids had a blast finding their eggs and were especially excited for the special silver money eggs. Calvin and Logan had their eggs filled with yummy baby food treats. Matt and Josh did a great job hiding the 100+ eggs all over the backyard. And today we get to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. How blessed we all are for his life, Atonement, death, and resurrection.
Love, Matt and Sarah

Floral Design

Since I only have two more days of my college career, I thought I should post about a class I took this semester. I had quite the easy semester and one of those classes was Floral Design. I have always wanted to take this class and am glad I was finally able to. I learned a lot and had fun as well. The best thing was I learned the names of so many flowers and foliage. That will be something I will use forever. I love knowing the names of flowers, being able to point them out, and create arrangements. I have loved having flowers around my house. They always brighten up our little basement home.
Here is a collage of some of the arrangements I made. It doesn't look as good as it did when I actually had the flowers, but it works! I am definitely not a professional, but I would love to do more with flowers in the future.
