Christmas

Our first Christmas together was absolutely perfect! We couldn't ask for anything better. It started out with an Asay family getaway to Park City and then a week in Naperville with my family. We are both blessed with incredible families.

Biggest Loser

Biggest Loser is our show. We have watched the whole season and every Tuesday, John comes over for dinner and watches it with us. It's been so fun and we all always look forward to it. I have been meaning to take some pictures every week and next thing I knew it was the season finale. So here is to the memory of the Biggest Loser weekly event. And you don't have to wait too long for the next season. It starts January 3rd!
Note John's foot. haha

Gingerbread Fun

We finally did stuff with other married couples and it was so fun! We need more married friends. Anyways, it was a bunch of Matt's high school friends that got together for their annual gingerbread house party. We decorated our houses and played Catch Phrase. Such a fun night!!

Temple Square

Over Thanksgiving Break, we went up to Salt Lake and had dinner with Gma, Gpa, and Courtney. Afterwords, we went across the street to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square. The lights are always beautiful and we were able to enjoy them even though it was absolutely freezing outside! Matt and I were super excited because the night before we got our Christmas present and were excited to test it out. We got a new Canon T2i camera. We are learning all sorts of new things and can't wait to use it all the time. So Merry Christmas to us!!!

Thanksgiving Break

This was a great break and so much better to share it when you are married. We love the holiday season and can't wait for the Christmas season. Thanksgiving was wonderful at the Asay's. As always, great food, family, and fun. We enjoyed some delicious turkey, fried and smoked, and all the other delicious Thanksgiving yummies! It was a great day to relax and play games with the family. Friday, Courtney and I went out and did some shopping. Never attempted the Black Friday shopping day, but this year it was a success. We also did a craft, which was my absolute favorite! Grandma came and helped us and it was so fun. I am so happy how they turned out. I love it!! I was even able to make a wreath, with the help of Grandma. I am so excited for the Christmas season! This time of year is so much fun!
*Up next: our Christmas present that we couldn't resist having and using now and Temple Square Christmas lights...get excited!

Internship

Today was a great day! I got accepted as an intern at United Way with the Welcome Baby department. I am soo excited!!! I was having zero luck with getting an internship so I count this as a great blessing. I contacted United Way only to find out that they had already filled their positions. I was losing hope. Then the next morning, they called back saying one of the girls just called and dropped out, so they wanted me to come in for an interview right away. They interviewed another girl as well and after a long, long week of stress and anticipation, I was offered the position!! I am going to be busy, but know I will love it. I don't know too much about what my responsibilities will be, but I do know a few. I will be going to prenatal classes at the hospitals recruiting women to join Welcome Baby, I will do home visitations with mothers and babies teaching newborn and parenting classes, I will have weekly parent-child playgroups, and who knows what else. One unique opportunity that I know for sure is that I will be the head of social media for Welcome Baby. I have a lot to learn and can't wait to interact with so many different people. I am so grateful for this opportunity and am especially grateful for all the support and prayers that were offered in my behalf.

Flowers

The other day, we went over to Morinda with John and cut ourselves some flowers. They are getting ready to tear up all the flowers for winter, so we thought we might grab some for ourselves. I love having fresh flowers around my house. I am glad I had my camera with me because the flowers were so pretty!

Family Night

This past Monday we carved pumpkins with our friends Brad and Abby. It was a lot of fun! Matt did our pumpkin and we used a stencil. It turned out great. Brad made a devil face one. And Abby's pumpkin was so cute. So creative! We didn't have all the materials to make the one that I wanted to do, so that will probably be my next craft!

Fall Wreath

Fall wreath...check
After searching and searching for ideas I could do, I ended up just making my own up. It wasn't how I originally envisioned it turning out, but I like it. I just bought random things and put it together. This wreath is definitely not perfect and may look homemade, but who cares. I had fun making it. I love having something on our front door. Happy Fall!!!

Conference Weekend

What a great weekend. Lots of food. Lots of good talks. Lots of naps. I always look forward to Conference and can't wait to read the talks when they come out. One thing we are excited about is the announcement of the new Provo Temple. How cool is it that they are redoing the tabernacle and making it a temple. So awesome! Here's a picture of what it will look like. Another great thing about conference weekend is the food. It was definitely a sugar overload. No sugar starts tomorrow for us again. On Saturday, I made butterscotch rolls, which is a conference tradition from my side of the family. They turned out alright, but not like my mom's. Then today I made hootenanny's. These were a definite hit. We love them and they are so easy.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Welcome to the Asay Home

After all the unpacking and trips to the dumpster with mounds of boxes, our house is starting to feel like home. Here's a little tour of our first little basement apartment.

Front Door...not too exciting now, so you will just have to wait until I get a wreath made for the door. Our couch and entertainment center...Matt's bike has full ownership of this half of the room and Matt is proud to show his bike off to people that come over. Our table...got it for a steal off KSL. We use the other two chairs in our office.View of the kitchen from the front room.Even though the kitchen is small, it has everything we need and has plenty of cabinet space which is great. Our bedroom...we love the king size bed. A great investment! The guest bathroom...aka the one we never use. The rich magenta counters and bath add so much elegance to our home. (eekk!!)View of our "hallway home" from the kitchen. Our office/study room...this is also where our bathroom and walk-in closet is.Our bathroom...it was fun to decorate this bathroom and the new shower head was a much needed upgrade.I am excited to continue to decorate and add fun things to our home.
Visitors are always welcome!
